Campbell Children’s School

Did you know Grandview has a school in it?

What is Campbell Children’s School?

We are a publically funded school; we are mandated by the Ministry of Education and we follow the Kindergarten Program curriculum. Our students are all clients of Grandview, nominated for the school by their therapists, to work on OT, PT or SLP goals. In addition to exploring the curriculum, some Learning Opportunities may include; fine motor activities, gross motor activities, Indigenous Education, Mindfulness activities, Social-Emotional reflections and strategies, life skills activities, and community partner visits.

At Campbell Children’s School, technology is an essential tool that helps create equitable learning for our students.

The use of technology is not only a beneficial method to engage our students, but a necessity for many of our learners as a way to learn and communicate. The staff at Campbell’s is skilled at implementing assistive technology to allow all students to participate fairly and fully alongside their peers.

We also place a great emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) which allows students of all abilities to develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and communication.

Other Initiatives

Another important school initiative is Indigenous Education and offering a variety of activities including: fall feast, orange shirt day, medicine wheel teachings, storytellings, cedar tea and teachings, creating dream catchers, smudging, creating a classroom treaty and each week a class hosts the “13 grandmother moons on turtles back” calendar that guides us to each moon’s teaching.
